Delivery Experience Columbia Asia

Hye peeps!

Today I'm going to share my 1st delivery experience. I lived in Taiping last year before moving to Penang early 2013. When I 1st got the great news, I already have Columbia Asia in mind. Since that was my 1st child, I want to give it the best that I could afford. I wanted it to be a very pleasant experience.

Columbia Asia Taiping has 2 O&G specialist, one is Dr Khairul and the other one is Dr Jeya. I chose to deliver with female doctor so I requested my maternity check-up to be with Dr Jeya. I started my maternity check-up at Columbia when I was in my 7th month pregnancy. Before that I went to government Klinik Kesihatan. For mommies who interested to know about the charges, the charge varies according to the doctor you consult. For me, it was about RM80 per session.

My time came on the day that I should come for my routine 2 weeks check-up on the week 37. My check-up should be at 8 PM but that morning, my urine was brown in colour. I called hubby and asked him to pick me up at 11 am to see Dr Jeya. I informed her about my conditions and she decided to do a urine test. The results showed that my urine was infected and it was brown because it was mixed with blood.

Dr Jeya asked me to go to labour room to see if I have dilated. At first I was really nervous about the pain. But she did it very gently and there was no pain at all. I was 2 cm dilated and she asked me if I want to get admitted. Of cos, no! I still got a lot of work to settle before I leave for maternity leave. She asked a midwife to do a fetal monitoring test using an electronic fetal monitor. There was no contraction yet but my baby is in sleeping pattern.

Dr Jeya asked me to come back for a follow up. I came back at 8 PM and my baby was still in sleeping pattern. There no contraction and no pain at all. Dr Jeya’s concern was that my baby was not moving much so we decided to take her advice and get admitted.

I was admitted on 19th but I stayed 2 cm dilated until 20th evening. Since my baby was still in sleeping pattern, Dr Jeya decided to induce to help me speeding up my contraction. On that night, about 11 pm my contraction started. At first the reading was about 60 only, but towards the morning it went up to almost 120. If during the day, I could still laughing and joking around but that time I could barely talk due to the pain that I tried to bear. The contraction stopped at 7 am.

At 9 am on the 21st Dr Jeya came to check on me. I was 3.5 cm dilated. She decided to send me to the labour room. Usually if you were 4 cm dilated, only the doctor will sent you to labour room.

After took my last meal (1 slice of bread and half mug of hot chocolate) I was sent to labour room at 10.30 am. The midwife started me on drip. The drip contains Syntocinon, which is an artificial form of oxytocin, the labour hormone. Then, my contraction started. Honestly I couldn’t feel any pain until I was 5 cm dilated. I was talking and joking with the midwife and hubby. At 1.50 pm the contraction reached 120. Dr Jeya came and checked on me. That time I was 7.5 cm dilated. She told me the baby was bulging and very eager to come out. After 3rd push, the head came out but stuck at the shoulder. Dr Jeya have to use vacuum since I have no more strength to push. Alhamdulillah at 2.55 pm the lil princess was born. Her angelic face took all the pain away!

That’s my story. And here is my review:

The doctor
Dr Jeya is a very experience O&G specialist. She’s very friendly and soft spoken. I could not ask for a better doctor and even I have moved to Penang, I don’t mind coming back to Taiping for my next time ;)

The midwife
All of them were skilful and friendly. They’re still smiling even they have to come to do the fetal monitoring at 3 in the morning! But during the time the midwife have to check on how many cm I have dilated, I found one of done it painfully. I have to ask other midwife to do for me instead of her since I couldn’t bear the pain. Dr Jeya done it very gently and I couldn’t feel a thing!
The midwife also brought me my baby for her 1st milk. She asked me if I want start BF or give formula milk 1st. I absolutely BF my baby!

The new born baby Damia Zara

The service
I would give Columbia Asia a 5 star! It was worth every penny. They allow not only husband but also mother and mother in law to be with you in the labour room. But they have to take turn and come in 1 person at a time. But it was very thoughtful and it’s really important to have all the people you really need the most with you during that critical time.
Visiting time is from 9 am to 10 pm. However, for delivery cases they allow family members to stay as long as you are in labour.
The waiting area for labour room

The meals are yummeh! They served mostly western meal. They provide you breakfast at 7, hot chocolate at 10 am, lunch at 12, hot chocolate at 4 pm, dinner at 7 and another hot chocolate at 9 pm.

The facility
It’s a huge and new hospital. You would not regret your stay here.
From this photo you can see the hospital overview

I chose a 2 bedded room. It was spacious and can fit a huge family. It’s a modern designed room.
This photo taken in the my 2 bedded room. On the right is the toilet attached in every room
* Daddy and Lily Jr*

My mom and my sister stayed overnight with hubby. It’s an added advantage to stay at private hospital because they allowed family members to stay overnight with you.
They have a nursery for new born and a nursery for children.
Baby Damia Zara in the new born nursery

The cafeteria serves great food at reasonable price. The outside parking lot is spacious and they also have basement parking lot. And the parking is FREE!

The charges
Here comes the most awaiting part. Yes, the doctor is great. The midwives are friendly. The room are a 5-star-hotel type. The service is VIP class. That’s why you have to pay more for all of the above. For 3 days 2 nights stay, I was charged about RM 3100 and for my baby was RM 500. The total for mommy and baby are about RM 3600. It was a normal delivery but have to use vacuum.

Overall, I gave Columbia 9.9/10 for giving me this awesome experience.
I would recommend all the mommies out there to consider Columbia Asia for your delivery. I will absolutely come back to Columbia Asia for my next time.

Kisah BF dan mengepam

Salam..

I was reading so many blogs on breastfeeding and breast pumping as I am now trying very hard to fully breastfeed my baby~ Damia Zara.

While trying to fully breastfeed baby Zara, I have few regrets that Im trying to fix now.
The first one, which lead to the next ones~ I didn’t keep as much as possible stock during my confinement period. Sy bkerja di Kamunting. Before deliver, sy mnetap di Kamunting bsama suami. Berkat rezeki baby, my husband was offered a new job in Penang. He started his new job during my confinement period. So temporarily he rented a room for a month since I was doing my confinement in my hometown, Terengganu. Okay, for 2 months Im in Terengganu I didn’t keep any stock. Sy takut bila da simpan stok bebyk, time nak balik Kamunting which the travelling time is 8 hours, all the EBM will spoiled. 2 days before my ML ended baru la sy balik ke Kamunting.

My 2nd regrets, tlalu lambat mbeli storage bottles. Sy dah balik Kamunting baru beli storage bottle. Jadi nya Sunday night baru la tergesa2 mengepump, hasilnya 4 oz shj. Luckily, my mom took a week leave to stay at Kamunting to look after baby Zara plus my house just a 5 minutes’ drive from work. Sy bleh la balik rumah lunch time, so bleh la DF baby Zara. Since baby Zara baru 2months maybe consumption rate masih low, 4 oz is enough until I finished work at 5pm. Sesampai sy kat rumah, laju je baby Zara bg hint nak susu. Oh, kalau baby Zara tu isap jari tu means dia lapa la tu. Bijak anak mommy ;) Rutin pump hari ini untuk hari esok ni blanjutan slama smnggu sb sy hnya pakai manual pump Avent Phillips.

My 3rd regret, tidak bdisiplin. On that weekend, sy bpindah randah mngangkat barang ke rumah baru kami di Penang. Sy akan berulang alik dr Juru ke Kamunting stiap ari and baby Zara akan dihantar ke rumah babysitter. Kbetulan weekend  tu adalah cuti Thaipussam jadi Monday is the replacement holiday. Sy btol2 letih Sat & Sunday mngangkat barang dan mngemas. Terlalu ikutkan kemalasan dan konon nya kepenatan mengemas dan mengangkat barang, ditambah pula tiada masa nak mengepump secara berleluasa ;p Hasil untuk 3 hari bcuti, sy hnya bjaya mengepump 7oz. Semalam (Tuesday), sy start hantar baby Zara ke rumah pngasuh bbekalkan 7 oz susu. Sy bekalkan juga formula milk in case tak cukup, which is memang akan tak cukup la sbb sy da x bleh blik lunch time utk DF baby Zara. I called the babysitter after lunch, there were 2 oz left. Pulang dr kerja, sy ambil baby Zara kat rumah babysitter. Sedihnya, baby Zara tpaksa juga minum formula milk 2 oz.

Oleh sebab sy mggunakan alasan manual pump untuk menutup kemalasan sy, jd sy tlah mbuat kputusan utk mbeli electric pump. Skrg sy sedang mnunggu the new electric pump to arrive. Smoga sy bjaya menyediakan bekalan yg ckup utk baby Zara.

Change of atmosphere

Salam..

Hey peeps! It’s been a very long time since my update. My last post was when Im still single and now, I am a mom~

Life after married is wayyyyy much better than before. We are having the greatest time of our life. Should I say, I wished I’ve met him sooner? He is the best friend, the boyfriend and most importantly the perfect husband!

the love of my life~ mohamad nur asnaim
Before this I wrote about my obsession on eating and shopping but I’m changing the atmosphere of this blog, as my tittle has also changed ;) I’m still me, the shopaholics ;p but now I’m spending  more for the little one.

It’s a very amazing experience gave birth to the little one. I can’t recall any labour pain. In fact I feel that I can do it again, every year. But of course, not for real. We have our own planning and InsyaAllah the next will only be coming after 2 years ;)

our bundle of joy~ arissa damia zara

So, tell me your side of the story. It’s been a while since my last post. Let’s catch up!

Love while you live

Derick:
I guess we are the left-overs in this world.

Lily:
I think so...all of my friends have boyfriends, and we are the only the 2 people left in this world without any special person in our lives.

Derick:
Yup, I don't know what to do.

Lily:
I know! We'll play a game.

Derick:
What game?

Lily:
I'll be your girlfriend for 30 days
and you will be my boyfriend.

Derick:
That's a great plan, in fact, I don't have anything to do
much for the following few weeks.

DAY 1:
They watch their first movie
and they both are touched by the romantic film.

DAY 4:
They went go to the beach and have a picnic. Derick and Lily have their quality time together.

DAY 12:
Derick invited Lily to a circus and they ride through a Horror House.
Lily was scared and she thought she touched Derick's hand but she actually touched someone else's hand they both laughed.

DAY 15:
They saw a fortune teller down the road, and they asked for their future advice.
The fortune teller said:
"My darlings, please don't waste the time of your life, spend the rest of your time together, happily." Then tears flowed out from the teller's eyes.

DAY 20:
Lily invited Derick to go to the hill
and they saw a meteor; Lily mumbled something.

DAY 28:
They sat on the bus, and because of a bumpy road Lily gave her first kiss to Derick by accident.

DAY 29:
11:37 pm:
Lily and Derick sat in the park where they first decided to play this game.

Derick:
I'm tired Lily...Do you want anything to drink? I'll buy you one...I'll just go down the road.

Lily:
An Apple Juice, that's all. Thank you.

Derick:
Wait for me.

20 minutes later
A stranger approached Lily

Stranger:
Are you a friend of Derick?

Lily:
Yes, why? What happened?

Stranger:
A reckless drunk driver ran over Derick, and he is in critical condition in the hospital.

11:57 pm:
The doctor walked out of the emergency room; he handed Lily an apple juice and a letter.

Doctor:
We found this in Derick's pocket.

Lily reads the letter and it says:
Lily, These past few weeks, I realized you are a really cute girl, and I am really falling for you-your cherished smile, your everything when we played this game. Before this game ends, I would like you to be my girlfriend for the rest of my life.
I love you, Lily.

Lily crumpled up the paper and shouted:

"Derick! I don't want you to die-
I love you; remember that night when we saw a meteor and I mumbled something. I mumbled that I wish we would be together forever and that we would never have to end this game. Please don't leave me Derick .. I love you! You can't do this to me!"

Then the clock strikes 12...

Derick's heart stopped pumping...

It was the 30th day.

Appreciate people around you, while you still have the opportunity to do it.

I love you, bby.

Making Decision

I just realized, its been 8 years since my late best friend, Nana left us. Im too busy with work and life, until I nearly forget her. I really miss her. I cant recall when is the last time I visited her grave. Hopefully this Syawal I'll have the opportunity to visit her, insyaAllah. Al-Fatihah.. May Allah bless her.

Tomorrow will be the 28th day of puasa. Hari Raya is just around the corner. Salam Eid Mubarak!
This year, insyaAllah is the last Ramadan and Syawal for me as a single. Wink2! ;p Cant wait for next year to come!

This year Naim and me, we celebrate Raya moderately as we are now saving every single penny for our big day ;)
Being an adult is not easy. Last time when I was in USM, all I do is study (small portion of it =p) and enjoying life (most of the time). Making decision is not a core part of life, since most of it are just decision that will not impact my life in any significant way—matters such as “What clothes will I wear today?” or “What will I eat for lunch?". There's nothing to worry, except exam which came twice a year only LOL. But now *sigh* even a small thing do matter a lot. Little mistakes at work, tiny issues in relationship, olive-sized good deeds (and of cos bad one). All of that matter. All of that teach me lessons about life.

Another downside of being an adult is the demand of making big decision. Important decision which
have long-term ramifications that will affect your happiness and overall well-being. For example, "What kind of person do you want to marry?" "Where will you live?" Because these and other decisions we face can affect us for the rest of our lives. They require proper consideration.

So, are you ready to make decisions that are important in your life?

Live life to the fullest!

Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir dan Batin

im back!

My last post was almost a month ago. Phewwww~ W-T-H? I have been so busy with everything. Assignment, design project, final year project lab and not to mention my sports activities. Since this is my last semester in USM (hopefully!) I decided to take part in every games I thought I can play. Hehehe..
Now is the season of SUKAD. On 29th January, i went to USM Main Campus for SUKAD BADMINTON. I was representing Desa Lembaran. Sadly we lost in the quater final. And the next week, 6th Feb i went to USM Main Campus for SUKAD Futsal. Again we lost in the quater final. But this time i was representating Desa Jaya.. Hahahaha. I planned to take part in SUKAD Handball but i havent make up my mind yet. The games will be on 5th March at USM Engineering Campus. We'll see.... =]]
On the other hand, 22nd to 24th January 2010 is the first historical moment for me for the year 2010. We, USM Engineering Campus Taekwondo Club have successfully organized a tournament called USM OPEN TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 officiated by Prof Omar Osman, Deputy Vice Chancellor of USM. I, as the project director would like to thank everyone who directly or indirectly involved in this championship for all the hard work in order to make this event happened. A huge appreciation goes to all my committee for their 100% contribution and the sleepless night from the beginning of the preparation until the very end of the championship.

Gimic on the Opening Ceremony. Prof Omar Osman broke the plank only with single attempt! huiyooo
